The Sutras provide a deep philosophical framework for understanding the nature of the mind and consciousness. They offer insights into the nature of suffering and the path to spiritual liberation.
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali were authored by the sage Patanjali, traditionally dated around 200 BCE to 400 CE. The text is a foundational work in yoga philosophy, consisting of 195 concise aphorisms organized into four chapters. It outlines the Eightfold Path (Ashtanga Yoga), including ethical practices, physical postures, breath control, and meditation techniques. The Sutras aim to quiet the mind's fluctuations to achieve spiritual liberation (Kaivalya).
In this course, over 6 sessions we will go through the context in which the Yogasutra was narrated, the important shlokas and their meanings, and the key philosophy and teachings of Sage Patanjali that can be applied to our own lives taking various examples of our Yoga and routine life.
Every session will have enough time set aside for Questions and Answers.
The expected outcome is that participants get an insight into what Yogasutra is and how it can help them; and most of all encourages them to get deeper into the study of Yogastura and other Hindu shastras.
Please Note:
It is not a Chanting Course and It is not an Aasana class.
